Outmarket was recently featured in Insurance Journal’s story “Agency Tech: Building Bridges and Empowering People.” Andrea Wells knows the industry cold, and she looks at how AI is changing workflows inside independent agencies, with perspectives from across the industry, including our own CEO, Vishal Sankhla.
We’re proud to be part of that conversation. We’re even prouder of where it landed: the agencies getting real value from AI aren’t the ones chasing the flashiest tools. They’re the ones using technology built around how insurance actually works.
It was also great to see Javier Hernandez, CIO of ISU Steadfast, point to Outmarket as an example of the specialized, agency-specific workflows he sees as one of the biggest shifts in agency technology right now.
Outmarket didn’t start as an AI company looking for an industry. It started inside insurance.
Before co-founding Outmarket, our co-founders held key roles at Ethos. Working in the industry is where they saw the opportunity in commercial insurance: brokers’ data scattered across systems, inboxes and carrier portals, and experienced people spending their days stitching it back together. That experience shapes everything we build.
The Trend Isn’t Just About AI
As Vishal told Insurance Journal, AI is moving past answering questions and into getting real work done. That’s more of an unlock than an end-point on its own. It enables a reallocation of resources towards client relationships.
That’s why we believe this is a great moment for independent agencies. For a long time, growth meant hiring more people or buying another agency. Purpose-built AI levels the playing field, giving smaller agencies the capacity to compete on customer experience.
For more on that, check out this video with Monty Ross from G.R. Little. He sends a clear message about how AI fits into agency strategy: “The ones that are successful are the ones that will invest in the relationship side of the insurance agent-to-client bridge.”
